Windows 10 pro time?

Post by Driver170 » 14 Apr 2019, 11:36

I’m using windows 7 and i’m wanting to update my SSD to a 1tb Samsung evo. Should I reinstall OS7 or buy windows 10 pro? Has anyone got windows 10 networked ok?

Good advice, as I had it, you have to format everything, install w10 on a new hard drive. Personally with the old s / o w7 and hard disk I had problems even with the prosim access keys.

I have 3 systems in my networked setup, all running Windows 10 Pro x64. No issues at all. You may encounter initial setup issues with USB, network sharing, drivers and you'll probably experience typical Windows 10 behavior. ;) At 14-jan-2020 Windows will stop active support/updates of Windows 7. So you'll have to move anyway, so why not do it now. For what it's worth: I'm using SIOC (OC hardware), CPFlight MCP, EFIS, pedestal via MCP737PRO2 and Sismo overhead (networked), Saitek yoke, throttle and rudder, tiller connected to a Leo Bodnar BU0836A, Micro Maestro 6-Channel USB Servo Controller for the MIP gauges, 3 DisplayLink USB videocards. As said, all working fine. Also Aivlasoft EFB, PFPX, TOPCAT, PSU, EFC737, ActiveSky, SimSounds etc all running fine (over network where applicable).
Kind regards,
Henk-Jan

I see Ebay sells the license key for like 3 quid? Good reviews and feed back also.

I have lost my original discs for my motherboard etc when i first got my PC, can i still download these from the website i guess?

I’m wanting to do network setup like my current windows 7. Did you have problems with that?

I had no network issues. Settings/UI will differ, but of course you can achieve the exact same functionality as in Windows 7.
About drivers: when using reasonably recent and common hardware, you will find that Windows 10 will support a lot out of the box, like chipset, motherboard, gpu etc. I do suggest you check on the manufacturer site if there are drivers (if needed) for the specific hardware you use.

Be sure to buy a version that allows you to move the license. That way if you change computer, motherboard etc, you will also be able to move the license as well for as long as you own the software. Read the Microsoft EULA carefully before you make your purchase.
