This privacy policy sets out how ProSim Aviation Research B.V. (hereafter ProSim-AR) uses and protects personal data that you provide to us. Your data is collected by ProSim-AR via the website, the  ProSim-AR forum, when creating a user account in our webshop, when purchasing a license and upon use of one of our software products.

ProSim-AR is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. You can be assured that we will only use your personal data in accordance with this privacy statement.

What personal data is processed?

Company website
When visiting and using our company website www.prosim-ar.com we collect (possible) personal data. We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

The processing of personal data is restricted to the duration of six months.

ProSim-AR forum
When you use the ProSim-AR forum we use cookies using phpBB software that establishes a user-id and session-id automatically assigned to you by the phpBB software. Furthermore, a cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within ProSim-AR forum that is used to store which topics you have read, thereby improving your user experience. Also, we collect your information submitted (posted) on the ProSim-AR forum. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (“anonymous posts”), registering on “ProSim-AR forum” (“your account”) and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-out from automatically generated emails from the phpBB software. We recommend you do not post any personal data on ProSim-AR forum that you do not wish to be viewed by others now or in the future.

Your password to the ProSim-AR forum account is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at “ProSim-AR forum”, so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with “ProSim-AR forum”, phpBB or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the “I forgot my password” feature provided by the phpBB software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your email, then the phpBB software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.

The processing of personal data is restricted to the existence of your user account. You can remove/have your account, posts and messages removed from your user interface or by contacting us.

Web shop
When using our web shop for purchasing a user licence for one of our products we require that you make an account and provide your email address, first and last name.

The processing of personal data is restricted to the time that you have your account. You can remove/have your account removed from the web shop user interface or by contacting us. If your account has been inactive for the duration of 3 years while you no longer hold a ProSim software usage right then we will reactive your account and remove all data.

Use of our software products
When using one of our software products your software will regularly connect to our server for the purpose of (renewed) activation. Additionally the ProSim-AR software tracks and temporarily stores IP address and events such as operating times, configuration, information, memory and error logs, computer and operating system environment data.

Personal data is gathered and stored no longer than necessary to provide our services and for no longer than one month with the exception of data regarding abuse detection, which is stored for the time needed to establish abuse and follow up with legal action when deemed required.

Sensitive data
We at ProSim-AR do not intend to process sensitive personal data unless strictly necessary or any personal data of children under the age of 16 (as referred to in article 9 and article 10 of the GDPR). By using our software, you confirm that you are 16 years of age or older.  

Why we collect this information

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • For processing your purchase on the site and provide you with our products and services
  • For sending information we think you may find useful or which you have requested from us
  • For improving our products and services
  • To contact you when providing requested support
  • For providing the possibility of creating an account
  • For the sole purpose of tracing the abuse of our software or (any cooperation to) piracy we use Software user statistics.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect such as:

  • Restricting rights and access
  • Requiring users to choose secure passwords
  • Use of an HTTPS encrypted connection;
  • Third parties the Processor engages are assessed periodically based upon the sensitivity and risk associated with their services.

Disclosing your personal data to third parties

We at ProSim will not sell your personal data to third parties. However, we may disclose your personal data with third parties insofar as reasonably necessary for the services we provide, and the purposes set out in this privacy statement.  

Your rights

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – if applicable in your jurisdiction – provides for certain rights you as data subject may exercise:

  • to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data
